About the Position:

 

The Role is pre-dominantly dairy, with sheep/beef/deer and lifestyle blocks also serviced. We use a wide variety of technology, software and other resources to assist you, and these include:

• Infovet and Welfarm
• In-house diagnostics including IDEXX, Mastatest and JupiterAI
• Special Interest Groups including the Vet Company SIG
• In-Calf, Healthy Hoof, milk quality, nutrition, research, farm finance and 
• Performance benchmarking including Datalive

You will be joining a great team with six other experienced vets and a team of technicians who are passionate about what they do, and who are committed to providing an excellent service to our large animal clients.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Equine Nurse to join our team. If you are passionate about equine nursing and thrive working in a team environment dedicated to hospital and surgical care of equine patients, we encourage you to apply.

The ideal applicant will have a strong interest in equine practice and a veterinary technician, veterinary technology or veterinary equine nursing background is essential. We are looking for someone with a Veterinary Nurse Diploma or Degree, a Bachelor Veterinary Technology Degree or the equivalent qualification.

 

About the Position:

 

As an equine veterinary nurse with a focus on surgery, you will play a pivotal role in our team ensuring the highest standards of care for surgical and hospitalised patients.  Key responsibilities include:

 

• Assisting with equine surgeries and maintaining theatre protocols.
• Providing exceptional nursing care to surgical and hospitalised patients.
• Supporting and mentoring team members, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
• Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in the equine hospital.
• Participating in an after-hours and weekend roster.
• Assisting in the maintenance and hygiene of diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, barn and surgical theatre.
• Ensuring accurate stock control, invoicing of procedures and clinical records.
• Effectively communicate with and respond to enquiries from hospital clients, referring veterinarians and the general public.
• Assisting in the booking and administration requirements of surgical and general consultations, admissions, triage and discharge of hospital patients.

 

With a rapidly expanding equine client base, across all disciplines, we are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and driven team player with experience and passion in surgical nursing and hospitalised horse care to join our dynamic, clinically diverse team of nine equine veterinarians, two dedicated equine nurses, and three support staff.

 

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday 40 hours per week plus flexibility for weekends and an on-call as required by a pre-determined roster.

 

You will be supported by a team of vets and nurses and your input will be sought, valued, and respected.

 

This position would ideally suit someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, has great people skills and strives for high standards in quality veterinary care. If you enjoy developing strong relationships with clients, working in a fun, friendly team environment and have a desire to see your clients succeed while still maintaining a balanced life then this might be just the job for you. 

 

The clinic is BESTPRACTICE accredited and well equipped with a purpose-built surgical facility, 6 bay hospital stable block, hospitilisation paddocks, an arena and trot-up track, equine CT scanner, digital radiography, ultrasonography, videoendoscopy, dynamic endoscopy, orthobiologics, shock wave and an in-house laboratory.

About the Role
