Large Animal Sheep & Beef Vet

Vet Marlborough seeks an experienced large animal veterinarian to join our team.

Vet Marlborough is a respected, progressive, NZVA BESTPRACTICE accredited practice. The architecturally designed, purpose-built clinic is very well equipped. We have an exceptional team of qualified, professional and caring staff. An emphasis is placed on Continuing Professional Development and the development of special interest areas of veterinary practice. High professional standards are set, with quality care practiced in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

We are a member of The Vet Company, a cooperative group of nine independent veterinary practices. We leverage the talent across the group by way of annual Special Interest Group CVE events, and networks for referral and advice.

Our Core Values – We see everyone as a VIP and FREE to develop their full potential.

We are committed to our people feeling Valued, Inspired and Proud. That requires us to create an environment that supports them in being Focussed,

Respected, Empathetic & Energised.

The beautiful Marlborough region offers an enviable lifestyle with a fantastic climate, central location with easy access to Wellington, Nelson & Christchurch. The Marlborough Sounds and Nelson Lakes National Park offer an amazing variety of leisure activities and then there is the wine!

The practice services the whole of the Marlborough region, including the Marlborough Sounds, D’Urville Island and the Awatere Valley, including several high-country stations.

Full time Vet: Mixed Companion and Production Animal

Golden Bay – the name says it all.

The Rural Service Centre Vet Clinic is a club practice based in Takaka, Golden Bay, which is less than two hours drive northwest of Nelson.  We are looking for a mixed vet with an interest in dairy and companion animal, but we do see a bit of everything so there is potential to get involved with other species as well. You will become part of a team of five vets providing a very proactive level of service to our members and clients. Part time or full time, new grad or experienced, if you are interested in us, then we are interested in you.

What do we love about our job?

• The clients – Our farmers are (by and large) a great bunch of people.  They are mostly family owned and operated farms and you really do get to establish relationships, understand their businesses and motivations, and watch their kids grow up.

• The scenery – you never get bored driving around here!

• The work – while there are the usual routine jobs to do, we get to see a lot of cool things, and because we are a fair dinkum club practice, our pricing is very competitive. Most clients are willing to let you give things a go, if you want to.  There is also plenty of scope to grow the business in a number of areas (eg - nutrition, sheep and beef, equine), if you are motivated by that sort of thing.  Outside of Spring, afterhours is very quiet.

• What haven’t we mentioned … CPD – encouraged and funded, pay – competitive (including comprehensive health and income protection insurance), smart phone, vehicle and equipment supplied, after hours generally 1 in 4 with a half day Friday the following week.

What do we love about living in Golden Bay?

• The scenery – Golden Bay is nestled inside two National Parks, with tramping, biking, and climbing all within a stones throw.  The Bay is perfect for all sorts of water sports except maybe surfing, and there are fish, paua and crays, if you know where to go.

• The community – You would struggle to find a community as diverse as Golden there is something here for everyone.  Sports, music, hunting, art, history, yoga, pottery, wildlife, mountain biking, conservation and even full moon gong concerts - there is a club or group here that is into whatever it is that you are interested in.

• The weather – We won’t lie, it can rain here (annual rainfall is 2 – 3 m) but this is usually during the night and generally we have a lovely climate with lots and lots of sunshine.

If New Zealand is the best place in the world to live, work and raise kids, then Golden Bay is the best of the best.

If this sounds like a position you would be interested in, please get in touch with our senior Carl Finnigan at carl.finnigan@rsc.co.nz or our general manager Dave Egan (dave.egan@rsc.co.nz).
